In this context it means to <strong>protect life<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Over the past two decades it has become <strong>evident<\/strong> that this is not <strong>enough<\/strong>. The meaning of \"safe\" also <strong>extends <\/strong>to <strong>limiting<\/strong> <strong>overall losses<\/strong>. This view involves a <strong>revision<\/strong> of <strong>design<\/strong> logic, with two <strong>key aspects<\/strong> to be considered:<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>- The <strong>limitation<\/strong> of damage to<strong> nonstructural elements<\/strong> especially for relatively usual <strong>seismic actions<\/strong>, but also in the case of few actions when it comes to <strong>buildings<\/strong> whose functioning is <strong>essential<\/strong> in the event of a <strong>disaster<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>- The idea of <strong>structures<\/strong> that promote damage containment for habitual actions and that allow <strong>fast<\/strong>, concentrated repairs in areas of easy access and <strong>intervention<\/strong> for <strong>strong actions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><strong>Mixed steel-concrete<\/strong> frame structures lend themselves very well to <strong>structural damage<\/strong> <strong>reduction<\/strong>.
