MODULAR CONSTRUCTION: FROM PROJECTS TO PRODUCTS

In the last decades, construction has shown a delay compared to other
sectors in terms of productivity performance. There is currently an
opportunity for a change of pace that allows to implement the future of
construction today: this opportunity consists in using offsite production to
manage many aspects of the building process, switching specific activities
away from traditional onsite operations.

Although this concept is not new, recently, modular or prefabricated
construction has been attracting a wide and fresh interest and investment,
given the latest changes at a technological and economic level.

Modular projects carried out recently have created a solid track record
in terms of time saving, since the project timelines is reduced by 20–50
percent.

Offsite construction can also contribute to relevant cost savings, and is
meant to constantly increase.
